Backdating child maintenance
The Child Maintenance Service (CMS) is the new government department responsible for calculating all child maintenance payments between parents who are separated or divorced.
The CMS can help you find out how much a paying parent needs to pay; track down non-resident parents (NRPs) and ensure the right amount of child maintenance is paid to PWCs (parents with care).
I DO BELIEVE PARENTS SHOULD CONTRIBUTE TOWARDS THEIR CHILD/CHILDREN but don't see how I need to pay £16,000 when at that time I was in a really bad way and could not pay! moderator I am not qualified in family law, or other area of family matters. Any opinions I give are my own, and any advice should be checked before acting on it. I am William the Child Maintenance Options consultant.
If parentage is assumed, they’ll work out a child maintenance amount.
But my daughter, Jordan, got home from work at about 5.15pm and the TV was on pause and the lights were on, but Ian wasn't there.
The letter also says my ex wants regular payments of £394 a month after this which I am happy to pay the regular payments but not sure about backdated money because I was in a terrible situation then! Do I have to pay the backdated sum of £16,000 if I wasn't working the whole time she wants paying for?
